The mission of Scouting is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
A Scout is:
Trustworthy, Loyal,
Helpful, Friendly,
Courteous, Kind,
Obedient, Cheerful,
Thrifty, Brave,
Clean, Reverent
Check out BSA's Aims and Methods of Cub Scouts for general information on the Scouting program.
Den meetings (grade level specific) and Pack meetings (all grade levels together) are the staple of our program. This is where scouts will develop principles of Character, Citizenship, Personal Fitness, and Leadership.
Every year we plan a Fall and Spring campout.
It's family style camping (the whole family is invited)
Stay overnight or just come out for the day
Activities include hiking, learning about nature, games, cooking, campfires, skits, astronomy, and much more!
Food drive: Every year we do a food drive, collecting ~800 lbs of food for the local food pantry.
Clothing drive: In December we collect socks to donate to Mobile Loaves & Fishes. To keep things fun, we have a "snowball fight" with the socks before they are donated.
Each scout gets to design and build their own pinewood derby car, which we then race down our 40 ft track to see who goes the fastest!
We participate in the annual "Pfestival of Lights" parade downtown Pflugerville each year.
Here are just a few more examples of things we do...
Meet with state and local community leaders and learn about what they do.
Visit local police and fire departments.
Learn about our solar system with an indoor planetarium.
Take trips to museums and science centers.
and much more...
